Community Service Workshops
are on the 2nd Wednesday of the month.
10:00 AM – 2:00 PM
3901 39th Avenue West, Bradenton
If you'd like to be a part of some very worthwhile and appreciated service projects, come to a community-service workshop!
Our Community Service team assembles quilt kits that our members then complete on their own. At most guild meetings, we have projects available to take home so there's always an opportunity to serve. The guild provides quilts to several organizations, including Beds 4 Kids, His Girls' Discipleship and the Guardian Ad Litem program.
Members are asked to take dog bed covers home from the meetings, fill them with scraps of fabric and batting, and return them to the Community Service table at Guild meetings when they're full. They will then be delivered to the Humane Society. Cat mat kits are pre-cut and usually available at meetings - also at the Community Service table. The mats are simple, just sew the two layers together, no batting needed. If you have a Serger, just serge around the edges. Dog beds and cat mats are offered to those adopting pets, and there is always a need. Donations of fabric for dog bed covers - denim, corduroy, home dec fabrics - are always welcome and should be large enough to make a cover about the size of a standard pillowcase.
